2009 Digital Photo Competition
We are launching a new competition for 2009 based on the active participation & very positive support & feedback we received for the last three competitions.
PRIZES: £265 to be won!! Three prizes in each category:
- Adults: Three prizes - £100, £50 and £25
- Under 16s: £50, £25 & £15 (must be under 16 at 16th Sept. 2009 and
supply their date of birth with their entries)
Topic: “THE HUMOROUS OR UNUSUAL IN BURTON BRADSTOCK”.
This should encourage creativity and, we hope, will be lots of fun.
N.B. Although photos must be taken in Burton Bradstock, the competition is open to anyone, wherever they live! So residents, relatives, visitors, holiday makers, tourists etc. can all apply!
QUALITY & ORIGINALITY will score highest points!!
- Entries accepted - 1 January to 16th September 2009 inclusive
- Open to anyone, anywhere, but excluding Burton Bradstock ONLINE & Burton Bradstock Village Web Site Committee members.
- Max number of pictures - 10 per person
- Photographs must be original work of the sender & be taken after 1st January 2009
Please note: While we very much hope that people have fun taking photos for the competition, the judges are sure that applicants will want to try and submit really good photos. To help you, the judges have said they will be looking for, (besides the immediate “WOW” factor of a photo), the following desirable attributes in any entry to the competition
- Subject matter must be relevant to the topic, and must meet the criteria laid out in the Rules of the Competition (Full Competition rules can be found here)
- Good composition in the positioning of the subject is very important, as are the use of lighting, colour and contrast.
- Technical excellence, with proper focus of the subject and with good exposure.
- An indication in the photo that it was actually taken in Burton Bradstock.
- While it will be, (at least this year), acceptable to digitally modify a photograph for humorous submissions, should you so wish, the judges will still expect the above criteria to apply!!
Note: Of course, digital cameras these days automate much of the technical aspects leaving the photographer to concentrate on the actual picture, the content etc. as above, but please ensure your camera is set to take high resolution pictures.
